Breastfeeding can sometimes be a challenge when you are trying to find something to wear. Actually breastfeeding is just hard in general. But I want to give some fashion do’s and don’ts that I have learned over the past month for postpartum breastfeeding mommas.
I have been breastfeeding my sweet Annslee Kate this past month and boy is it a lot of work. Not only am I the only one pumping/ feeding her all the time, but I am also confused walking to closet trying to find what to wear. Here are some styles you can rock while staying on trend.
Wrap dresses are perfect for work and sooo flattering on post partum bodies. This green wrap dress is almost sold out. You can find it here at target but I found another cute wrap dress here
Not only are they cute during the winter but they also serve as a nursing cover. I just discovered this last weekend when I was out with the family. Just make sure you wear a tank top or t-shirt with a v neck.
Anything with a v neckline makes it super easy to pop your breasts out without exposing your belly.
So if you can’t find something that you can pop your breast out on top of the shirt then make sure you wear a tank top underneath your shirt. So when you pull your shirt up, your belly isn’t exposed. That is what I did with this cute top from target. But the key is for the material to not be too thick.
Similar white ruffle top here
Some maternity fashion is breastfeeding accessible like this top from Everly Grey. It also looks good on you pregnant and postpartum. They typically have side access which is really nice when you are in public.
Shop this top here and it’s on sale!!
I obviously cannot pop my breast out on top of that and if I pull my dress up I will show the world everything under my dress. You cannot wear this outside the house while breastfeeding. Remember if you are wearing a dress you have to be able to access your breasts without pulling your dress up. You might think this is funny but I did put this on and remembered to take it off before I left the house.
I cannot wear off the shoulder anything while breastfeeding because of my maternity bra. I have never seen a strapless bra and I am scared to wear my strapless bra because it has a wire. The only time I wore a wire bra I got mastitis. I am not sure if the wire bra caused it or not but it is very uncomfortable while breastfeeding. So everything off the shoulder is pretty much off the table for now. I cannot wear the sticky boobs either because I will leak all over them.
I hope this post helped some mommas find something in their closet when they are trying to breastfeed in public. I just want to let you know that you are doing a great job being a mom. It is the hardest job. If you are breastfeeding then you know how time-consuming it is and how overwhelming it can be at times.
You are doing awesome momma!
