Lip filler has become a more common topic talked about among women these days. Any cosmetic enhancements used to be frowned upon in our mother’s and grandmother’s generations. You can get lip filler and still look natural and beautiful. I know that’s not what you think, but it’s true. Let me share my personal experience with you! Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional and you should always consult with your doctor before booking an appointment for dermal fillers. This blog post is just a review of my own personal experience of lip filler.
I really wanted to enhance my lips with filler, but my husband worried that I was going to look way too fake. To be honest, I was a little scared I was going to look really fake as well. But I hated the way my top lip was so thin when I smiled. I also didn’t feel confident about my gummy smile, and I knew lip filler would help. In this blog post, I am going to break down everything you need to know before your next filler appointment and why I truly think filler can help you feel confident.
Choose the injector wisely. The technique of how they inject the lip filler is key. There is a reason you have seen some people with duck lips. The duck lips are caused by filler being injected in the wrong area OR the filler migrating over time.
I love my injector, Shannon, at Skin Luxe Aesthetics. What really drew me to Shannon was
Make sure you look at reviews, before/after photos, social media, and website of the injector you are choosing! I can not stress enough the importance of doing your research! You do not want someone messing up your face because you didn’t take the time to do the research!
Most types of fillers consist of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally occurring in the body. It is an amazing ingredient that helps you feel and look younger because our face loses volume over time. Lip filler can last 3-6 months, depending on the person and how their body metabolizes it. My filler only lasts around 3-4 months, but I have friends that only have to get it redone every 6 months.
I don’t want to sugar coat the procedure, and everyone’s pain tolerance is so different. They apply a numbing cream before the procedure to help with the pain, but it still hurts a little. It feels like a pinch around the edges of your lips. Make sure that you eat before your appointment. I made the mistake of fasting, which caused me to get a little lightheaded and I almost passed out. It’s okay to be nervous at your appointment, but the pain will get easier as the appointment goes on.
A few hours after the procedure, you are going to be pretty sore and you might have bruising! That’s ok and it’s completely normal. Let’s not forget that they will be super swollen. I remember placing a bag of peas on them. I don’t plan any events a few days after my lip filler appointment just in case. You also want to skip the lipstick for a few days.
I cannot explain how confident I feel after getting lip enhanced with filler. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY! It was 100% worth it for me. My smile has dramatically changed for the better. The lips bring on this beauty like nothing I have ever seen before. It took about 2 appointments and 1 syringe to get the result I was looking for. Every time I tell someone that I have filler, they look so shocked and say, “but you don’t look fake.” I tell them, “that’s the point!” I truly feel so much confidence with lip filler.
